Each week, FanSided looks at the odds for each NFL contest and gets you prepared to wager on each and every game.
Last week we talked about how this season in particular had been incredibly difficult to predict — and the Week Five slate proved that theory to be exactly true.
Here is a short list of the Week Five games we were way off about. The Browns looked hopeless and helpless on Monday night, losing to the surprisingly undefeated 49ers 31-3, one week after thrashing the Week Two media darling Baltimore Ravens. The Kansas City Chiefs offense failed to score at least 26 points for the first time since Patrick Mahomes become the starter, but their defense showed up, as they lost 19-13.
The Jags and Panthers played in a bit of a shootout, 34-27. The Broncos embarrassed the Chargers 20-13 (including a shutout in the first half). And the Ravens, once thought to be the biggest threat to the Chiefs/Patriots AFC Championship Game, needed overtime to escape with a win over the third string quarterback led Pittsburgh Steelers, 26-23 (a three point win which led to a rough beat on the Ravens -3 bet we laid).
Despite this, our predictions netted a 16-12 weekend, good enough for a 14.5 percent return on your investment. We’ll try to do better this week, in a week that seems a little more clear cut in most instances.Next: Bets you should take...
